Yapi Kredi, Turkey's first private bank, celebrates it 60th birthday

Yapi Kredi, Turkey's first private bank, also has the distinction of being the first bank in Turkey to start Neighborhood Branches and Saving Deposit Banking, to use computers in the banking sector, to introduce credit cards to consumers and private banking for "individuals". Founded in 1944 in Bahçekapı with a capital investment of 1 million lira and 14 personnel, Yapi Kredi has been the bank of firsts and of innovation in the Turkish banking sector.

With 10 million customers and 10 thousand employees and the confidence that comes with 60 years of experience as a banking giant, Yapi Kredi and its Banking Headquarters, a symbol of operational efficiency, continues to play a pioneering role in today's financial sector. Part of maintaining its role as a pioneering bank is the contributions it has made to the community in culture and the arts; Yapi Kredi celebrated its 60th anniversary with the opening of the Abdülmecid Efendi Mansion, a Yapi Kredi restoration project.
