The Banker has selected Yapı Kredi as “Bank of the Year 2009” in Turkey
Yapı Kredi has been selected as “Bank of the Year 2009” in Turkey by The Banker, one of the most prestigious financial publications in the world. This year, The Banker awarded banks across 144 countries and 7 regions in the world through an assessment process built around detailed questionnaires received from 510 banks that were examined by The Banker’s editorial team.
The award, which takes into account financial performance, strength of the Bank’s position in terms of capital and funding, profitability, shareholder value creation and initiatives in technology, risk management, staff training, customer services, recognised Yapı Kredi’s impressive profit growth and successful cost management throughout the year.
Mr. Faik Açıkalın Yapı Kredi’s CEO, stated that “Despite the adverse economic conditions in 2009, we have sustained our solid profitability performance driven by robust revenue growth and strong cost control with the continuous support of our customer base and through realigning our short-term strategic priorities. On the one hand, we increased our focus on liquidity, funding and the capital position, as well as on proactive credit risk management.
